Someone does not follow you back when their account appears in your following list but not in your followers list. A complete JSON export lets you compare these lists without giving another service your Instagram password.
Start with two complete lists
Use followers and following files from the same account and export. If your followers are split across numbered files, include every part. This export guide explains how to obtain them.
Do not compare today’s following list with an old followers file. The result would mix two different moments and could classify accounts incorrectly.
How the comparison works
Consider this fictional example:
| List | Accounts |
|---|---|
| You follow | Alex, Bela, Cleo |
| Your followers | Alex, Cleo, Dani |
Bela appears only in your following list, so Bela does not follow you back in this snapshot. Dani follows you, but you do not follow Dani back. Alex and Cleo are mutual connections.
Reports normalizes username capitalization and removes duplicate records before comparing the lists. It does not treat display names as stable account identifiers.
Read your report
Open the local analyzer and select your files. The report separates:
- Followers: unique usernames in the selected follower files.
- Following: unique usernames in your following file.
- Mutual connections: usernames present in both lists.
- Not following you back: usernames present only in following.
- You don’t follow back: usernames present only in followers.
The free relationship lists show up to five accounts, ordered by username. Search applies only to these preview accounts. The report does not rank them by recency or importance.
Why this does not mean “recently unfollowed”
An account that does not follow you now might never have followed you. You need a prior follower snapshot to detect a list change. Even then, account renames, deactivations, and incomplete exports need to be considered.
Keep control of the result
The analysis runs on your device. The website does not upload or retain your report. Clear the report or close the page when you finish, especially on a shared computer.
